I just said to my husband before reading your article , that I just do not give a hoot about this eclipse, and have no idea why people are so excited about it. I was at work , but we were told we could go out to view it on our break or on our own time, if we chose to. I thought to myself , why would I waste my break time for that ?? I just don't care. Although I still don't , your article made me see it a different way , how that could be a family experience , and that is the memory that can last a life time. So thanks to your article , if I live to see 2024, I will make sure I am at least with my husband , so we can see it together. By the way Bob did go out to see it , and he liked it , but he is a much bigger nature lover and science type person than me. Thank you again for another great article! You are such a wonderful writer , I hope the Republican-Herald appreciates you, because you deserve it !!!

Re: Do these traditions still exist for you?

Kathryn , I love your Mommy Mentions !!!!

Re: Suffering sunburn, but who’s at fault?

The people responsible for those boys are negligent. The boys suffered damage at their hands. Not an accident, true negligence. They have been burned, and put at significantly higher risk for skin cancer later in life. I wouldn't allow those people to "care" for my kids any longer. What else do they just do without when they run low? I would be livid. I'm not litigious, but I'd consider suing them for something like that.

Re: Smoking with kids in cars … illegal?

We need LESS government interference, not more. Get real ! If you can afford an expensive party then what is another $ 24.00? That does not excuse not replying , but honestly , you can afford to take the parents to court , but can't afford to lose 24.00 bucks. Not everyone comes, of course, but I am prepared to pay for that head count. If it is such a huge deal to pay for a missing child, then you over invited to begin with. Things happen, kids get sick, have bad days, parents get called into work...it's not a big deal. That mom should have never sent that through the school. In this day and age, you can find anyone if you look hard enough.

Re: Uggs abound, but wow

OMG , Kathryn they are the best thing ever!! I think that if a baby is hungry, you feed him. Anytime, anywhere, at the mall, or next to me at the bank. It's silly that anyone makes a big deal of it. For Pete's sake, who cares? Pay attention to the parents who DON'T feed their kids instead.

Re: Why make her feel worse?

I read related articles yesterday, and it was brought up that the situation didn't unfold as the grandmother said it did. Not exactly. Patrons in the KFC at the time have stated that the grandmother approached the employee, asking them to remove some children who were starting at Victoria, as curious children do. When the employee refused, she raised a ruckus, and was then asked to leave. It wasn't because of the baby's face, it was her carrying on.

There are two sides to every story, and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. I also found it curious that the Go Fund me page tells the account, but leaves out the information that it was her own grandfather who owned the ten pit bulls, three of whom were responsible for the attack. It simply states that the owner had the dogs put down. It almost makes me feel as though they think it would put a bad light on them in some way. I feel as though it could be a calculated omission. God bless that little girl, and everyone who has given to help her.

Re: Putting it nicely, cancer stinks

Beautifully written ..... I dont think they make millions but they make enough, i know that because theyve even said on episodes that they dont have enough money for all college funds but they are saving.. anyhow, I would think its like MTV where they pay the house and stuff just to keep you going..well if they show is a hit , which this one isnt bad. But if you notice they do spend quite some money here and there, like in the previous episodes where they take each kid on a "special" day. for a family of ten i dont think thats too cheap.stuff like the hair implants and the tummy tuck were gift to jon and kate but they have a big house, with alot of electricity running through there house plus all the expenses, its cold where they live, plus kids grow every 2 months out of there clothes , gas isnt cheap these days and food isnt either. So obviously its a pretty good amount that they recieve and im sure they get paid alot of there stuff. So, they are very fortunate that they were offered this oppurtunity, cuz if they werent they would sure be in trouble but im glad they did , i like this family and there kids are such cuties and deserve everything they need theyre not spoiled nor bad kids for having a well off family .thats called good parenting!

Re: Learn to combat bullying now

Bullies is something that nearly every child will encounter at some point in time. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to hear about a school bully who has his or her eye on your precious baby. As parents, it is our job to help teach our children, the correct method for dealing with school bullies and how to defend themselves. I was scanning through a few blogs and found this article on a Safety Service for my children. I breastfed past 1 year (though not near as long as Mayim and the feedings had tapered off the twice a day in the morning and bedtime by the end). Baby wearing was great, but it wasn't something practical I could do all the time with twins. I did not cosleep out of pure nervousness that they would get hurt in my bed. I did get up with my son in the night quite a bit in his babyhood. His twin was a good sleeper starting at a young age and I was afraid to wake her if I tried to sleep train him. Also I think I was attached to him enough to know that he needed me in that way. And now he is a good sleeper. I don't think it has to be a matter of fostering independence OR athatcment. My oldest child had to learn to be more independent than maybe your average almost three year old when her world was rocked by the arrival of her twin siblings. Yet she has received one-on-one bedtime storytime from me on a regular basis since her sibs were about three monthsold, because she needed it. I think you can athatcment parent in the classic Dr. Sears/Mayim way OR if you are connected to your child you can athatcment parent in a way that recognizes your child's need for athatcment and the need to develop independence/self sufficiency too.
